On Tuesday 12th July, members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra visited The Purbeck School to work with musically talented students from the Purbeck Primary Schools together with students from The Purbeck School.
During the day, students composed their own piece of music based on a short musical motif which was later named, ‘Prime Chime (Shimmering Water)’ and performed it to parents at the end of the day. See below for a sneak peek at the marimba part!
The students were working so well that they progressed onto playing a famous piece of music from the opera Carmen which demonstrated some excellent note reading and listening skills to be able to play both in time and in tune together.
Everyone agreed that it was a fabulous day and the students send their huge thanks to all of the members of the BSO and their associate musician Patrick who gave them such an amazing day of music making.
