On Tuesday 4th March over seventy Year 6 students from many of our partner primary schools visited The Purbeck School for an afternoon taster session in English. The students, and some keen parents, enjoyed a Pictionary style starter where the students found themselves having to draw an image simply based upon what their partner described to them. We then moved on to looking at how to used descriptive skills to improve our writing, and using mini-whiteboards the students changed simple and boring sentences into ones that were much more exciting and imaginative. We were all thoroughly impressed with the students’ engagement and enthusiasm in every task. The session then developed into the students writing their own piece of creepy and spine-tingling writing. The standard of the work produced was really fantastic and we look forward to working with all of these talented students again in the near future.
Year 6 students are again warmly invited to join us for our next taster session, in Mathematics, on 24th April at 3.45pm. If you have yet to register then please telephone our office on 01929 550077. See you soon!
